I may not be your target individual but I must say - stunning. I try to get shots like these from time to time; often with the help of a flash to give a completely black background but - wow! good work.

: Oh, wow, thank you, JonMikal :D.

Yes, we did speak about your flower photos and about the fact that I, too, went out by bike and with camera in tow into the nearer surroundings yesterday afternoon (a surprisingly bright day after a long series of grey days of a big and recurring summer low... must the Denis's remains, I assume, for we get those storms after a while as a quick succession of low pressure areas!) ... might dedicate one or two of my flower pics to you in a Thank you thread ;). Only don't I ever get the light, shadows, background darkness and balances so right with what I have in the way of post processing software --- and I generally do not like what I get out of the camera directly. All too pale and non-descript for my liking. You shall see ;).

you are so welcome....whenever i see a flower i cant help but think of LaFoto. ;)

I love them, they are awesome, but how did you get the background so dark? was it just the light that was available at the time?

in PS, i found that if you apply a duplicate layer and choose multiply (play with the fader control) it retains much of the lighter tones but darkens the others. hope you find this helpful.
