V-I, I thought your suggestion of these categories was a great idea! bodies lenses technique lighting I am or have been a member of various forums, and one of the biggest problems is over-division. Too many sub-divisions makes it more difficult to follow a forum's content and daily posts. Also, I think some of the better responses given to "newbies" would be of great interest to many who would consider themselves intermediate photographers, and occasionally, a reply to a newbie's post would be of interest even to advanced photographers. In current forum, I think TPF has too many subdivisions, and the chasm between beginner and beyond the basics is too great; concentrating the discussions around bodies, lenses, technique, and lighting would allow everybody to learn more about those essential four aspects of photography.
