I was looking around for Fractal stuff and I remembered a fractal image compression tool that I found before I got into photography. I was quite pleased with it’s results so thought I’d see if anyone here had any experience with it or knew of any thing similar…

The product is called Genuine Fractals PrintPro 3.0 and you can download a demo that gives you 20 “goes” from http://www.lizardtech.com

I started with this image which is (my copy) 1024x768

I then cropped and resized a small section using conventional methods..

Then I converted the original 1024x768 file to the fractal format and at the same time rezised it to 4266x3200, with that done I cropped and rezised the same section as before. To my surprise the fractal image looks sharper!

They say you can use it to blow up images without quality loss for printing.. looks pretty cool to me, shame about the price though!

So this would be good to use it you have a lot of old low resolution jpg that you what to print at 8x10 and larger?
