Bummer. Personally I have always felt that the photographers thoughts played an important role in each and every shot. Not to mention careful consideration of all elements and their relationship to the final print.

#2 is great, looks like a scene from a movie.

I'd crop just a bit more though, pushing the girls to the right a bit, right on the rule-of-thirds line!
