I am leaving my job soon, headed for a new school in a distant portion of China, and was going through some old images that I used in my classes here, and thought I might share them here. Hope you enjoy some of my work. Most of this was for lectures on composition.

Nice variety. I love cats so the tiger is my favorite, good detail in the eye. (the clown is creepy.) Good luck in your venture and only drink bottled water there. ;)

Thanks so much, Kirk! Not too sure why, but my images seem to be in a strange order and not able to caption them either. Strange.

All good takes but for me the road shot holds something very intriguing. I can almost see/hear myself cruising down there on my V-Twin, straight through shotgun, slash cuts roaring at the sunset. Magic!!!

the first one of the deer and sunset is my fave, followed closely by the road image. i might have still been in diapers when the photo of bush was taken...

Thank you all for your kind comments and interest. The V-Twin thing sounds wonderful I just, two days ago, had to sell my bike because it is illegal where I am moving to in Zhuhai, China. I will miss her. Anyway, a story about the road shot. I took my family to Las Vegas for a vacation and mom and the two little ones were worn out and taking a nap, so oldest son and I went exploring and came across a ghost town about 30 miles outside of Vegas. It was apparently used in the movie "2000 Miles from Graceland" and some of the props were still there. One guy owned the entire town and we struck up a conversation with him in his general store, and he offered to give us a tour of his gold mine... an amazing place. So, on the way back, we were driving and came across this scene in the roadway and I stopped and shot several frames. Back home, I was editing this image and my son stopped, seeing it on my screen and asked where I shot that. Reminded him he was with me and annoyed that I stopped. His response: "I don't remember seeing that!", Ha! Kids!

I really like your use of composition on these, the portaits in particular use space very well. All good examples of well thought out compositions with clear and deliberate arrangement.

Pete, congratulations... I think you are the very first person in my life to ever complimented my portraits. I am not much of a portrait photographer. :) I appreciate your kindness and interest in my images.

Great set, well chosen for teaching aids on composition. Being somewhat uneducated on China geography, I had to do a little snooping. Seems you're moving to a city known as the Chinese Riviera, with boundless opportunities for "new" photographs. Looking forward to some future shots!

Quite honestly, I have never been there before, so I don't know. I HAVE been to Hong Kong and Macau, which I love, so feel that this will be great as well. Have already picked out an apartment that has an ocean view, so I am happy.
