What's the reasoning behind the chip? How long have you had it?

The chip was there from the first owner. I was concerned it was an indicator of a drop, but I've never had any issues with the lens at all. I've had the lens since July 2011. I'm completely OCD about my gear and the lens is in exactly the shape I received it in. Day one it had the filter put on the front.

BillMeLater is a paypal company and the two can be linked. But there is a paypal fee as if using a credit card for payment of 2.9% roughly $43 I think it was for this transaction.
