Fujica Az-1 light metering issue

I have a fujica az-1 sitting for a while now and decided to pick it up and shoot. I noticed the light metering wasn't working so i went out and bought 1.55v batteries, the manual said to buy 1.5v batteries but they didn't have any at all. So do you guys know if 1.55v should work?

oh nvm you guys, problem solved, for some strange reason i had to change the setting to automatic exposure, its probably to get the electronics running and going.
