My favourite photo from a live oriental dance show last weekend in Saltaire, Yorkshire. As with most of my dance shots this was made using available light.

Samantha Emmanuel - Tribal Fusion dancer

ISO 2500 F5 1/320 sec 120mm

Nikon D700 and a second hand 80 - 200mm Nikon f2.8 lens.

Some adjustments made in Lightroom to counter the varying coloured footlights and levels.

These are a BIG improvement on my previous work but C&C and tips are welcome. (When giving tips and advice remember that this was a LIVE stage performance - I shoot with the light I'm handed on the night).

Nice capture

Great image, very well done.

What settings were you using? I love the clarity, and I'm assuming you used no flashes?

Settings are on top - ISO 2500, F5, 1/320 sec, 120mm, and yes, no flash - I'm still experimenting with these, it's a bit hit and miss because the light changes as the spotlights are moved and as the light men do their artistic bit with the footlights - and the dancer's costume colour can also make a huge difference. Lightroom has proved to be worth the investment.

Thanks to all for the comments, I may try a closer crop and see how that looks.
