If I had it my way I would need a 512 card for every day of my vacation. I prefer RAW and can fit about 90 on a 512m card. I really need to get myself a laptop but the baby will delay that for a while.

I don't much about the speed in memory cards. How fast is fast? I mean, by today's standard, what is average and what is fast?

I think average is Lexar's 4x but I'm bad to shoot quick frames on kids in action so I like the faster cards.

Doin pretty good. Had the usual couple of scares, but things seem to be going smoothly nonetheless. We rented a doppler unit from online for $25 a month, so we can listen to the heartbeat anytime we want to. :thumbsup: Go in for the extensive US in a couple weeks. Due just before christmas.

12x high-speed 1.8MB/s
40x professional 6.0MB/s
they now have 80x which would presumably
80x photojournalist 12.0MB/s

For my camera, the 40x is very fast, I run out of buffer room long before I wind up waiting for the pictures to write. Then again I use jpeg at highest quality, raw is ok, but the size of them are just too much.
