I just bought the G6 and I am looking for some help with buying accessories. I want an underwater case, wide angle or fish eye lens, and a telephoto lens. I seached the internet up and down for an underwater case, and I cant find anything. Will the G6 fit in the G5 underwater case? And as for fish eye, wide angle, and telephoto lenses, I am just lost. Which are ok, which to steer clear from, and what do I need besides the actual lens. (what's a teleconverter, do I need one?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot in advance (First post :))

Hi MostlyDigital, welcome to the forum!

It might be more handy to list exactly which camera you mean. I will work on the assumption that you're most likely from the US and are therefore most likely to be talking about a 7 megapixel Canon G6 digital camera? This camera has a integral 35-140mm digital zoom lens, which takes you from semi-wide angle to semi-telephoto length. It's versatile and probably will cope with most situations, which is lucky, as you can't change it AFAIK. I'm pretty sure that you can't put on a teleconverter. A teleconverter is a short-cut way to increase (usually double) the length of whatever lens you're using.

Canon underwater kits aren't really known for being very reliable, and model listings are quite often a bit iffy, so I would suggest a trip to your local specialist to try one (if you want to risk it). Good luck,

Yeh thats what I meant. Thank you for your help. Well if canon cases arent that great, I guess I'll have to look at Ikelite (expensive, i know) I just cant find some of this stuff on the internet, only for the fact that I don't know too much info pricing wise, what too look for, yada yada. I'll have to go into a shop like ya said. Thanks again.

Best bet is Ocean Optics (London, UK) for underwater cases - not sure whether the G6 will fit the G5 case they are similar but not identical in size.

As for fisheye lenses look at Raynox - you will need an adaptor ring which fits on the lense mounting. You'll see a small grey button on the camera near the lense which releases a piece of circular plastic that the adaptor fits onto giving you a 52mm screw thread. Loads of suppliers then will do a 0.3x or 0.5x fisheye adaptor but this will not fit your underwater casing!

Good luck and happy hunting
