I shoot with a 40D and a 5D. I've allowed myself to labor under the illusion that I'm pretty good, because people pay me a good deal of money to shoot.

I've seen images from high-end bodies which I wouldn't line a bird cage with...

:D hehe

Jeeeze! Three pages for a troll!

Every thread that incites discussion is somehow a troll thread.

I've always thought it is the person (and or lens) that make the picture.
Do you believe that?

No. I don't. Take the battery out of your camera, and take a picture. If your camera isn't battery operated, take the film out of the camera, put the camera down, and take a photo with just the film. How did those photos turn out?

Well to be fair he did say the lens mattered, so a lens + a piece of film could indeed take a satisfactory photo, as long as you're allowed to keep it inside the film canister until you take the photo. You may also need a ruler and a couple pieces of duct tape.

Go somewhere really dark (moonless night in a field, etc.) with really slow film (ISO 25 or 50), but where you can see something bright in the distance. Take your telephoto lens and prop it on a rock or something pointed at the distant bright thing near infinity focus / hyperfocusable. Dial in a small aperture. Focus to infinity.

Measure out behind the lens with the ruler to the lens' backfocus distance (whatever your camera mount to sensor distance is for that brand). Position another small rock or something just right so you have something to tape the edge of your film to at the right distance.

Now make a small little envelope out of duct tape, to shield your film a little bit from premature light. take it out of its canister while huddling over it under your shirt or something, and slip it into the envelope. Attach another little piece of tape to the sprocket holes. Now quickly position it on your small rock, affix the tape, and pull away the envelope.

Let expose for 2-3 minutes or whatever you calculate you need (should be under conditions that would require at least that long though so that your prep work doesn't blow out the film), and then grab it quickly and shove it back in its canister.

Ta da!

Cool story bro.

Troll? My first camera was an Argus C3 in 1957 and I have enjoyed photgraphy since then. When did you start?
My third post here to start a legitimate discussion about gas, yes. My last post here, absolutely.
Goodbye.

I didn't actually get the reference to gas.

I think I will add a post to the 'what can't you stand' thread.
It's people who really need, yes need, attention so much that they hijack any thread they can possibly get into.

Why is it that he feels the need to try to do this?

Actually I don't care why.

Why is it that Runnah's, and others, doing this is tolerated?
Yes, he is a nice guy some of the time but, like most 3 years old, he shouldn't be allowed to interrupt when there is a real discussion going on.

I hijacked because it was a stupid well trod thread.

and I am a nice guy all of the time.

before anyone else weighs in on the hijacking issue, stop, take a few deep breaths, think for a moment and compose your thoughts..... Then go out and take some pictures.

No need for the thread to get ugly.

Whoa, left field...Trav was the only one to say anything. He called me out by name so I retorted as is my god given right in this great country of ours.
