before anyone else weighs in on the hijacking issue, stop, take a few deep breaths, think for a moment and compose your thoughts..... Then go out and take some pictures.

No need for the thread to get ugly.

Whoa, left field...Trav was the only one to say anything. He called me out by name so I retorted as is my god given right in this great country of ours.

Thats why i said "anyone else". I was fine with you addressing the issue since you were mentioned by name. I just dont want a dogpile, since it can pile up fast once it gets started.

Good, then we can leave it at "runnah was right to derail a stupid thread about a topic we've covered a millions times by mentioning tasty pork parts" and go about our lives.

I am fine with anything that includes bacon.

This whole thread is totally priceless.

OP, yes and no.

You can tell if the photog needs the gear or not, just by looking at their portfolio. Some of them have the most boring, pitiful photos. They can do that with just about any cam. They don't need $3000 to $10,000 cam.

On the other hand, some of the most pitiful photogs are famous and in the museum. So, I am no one to say.

If you want low noise, high ISO you need a FF dslr for best results. If you don't make big prints, then things may be more forgiving with a crop. I like the Leica for one thing only. It has old school controls. I would like old school controls on all my cams. I hate trying to adjust the m43's. By the time I adjust, the shot is gone on the street. You see photgs spending $8k for as Leica MM thinking it is the holy grail. Then they sadly sell it when it does not turn them into a Bresson.

If you want a different look, go for MF. Lots of $$, but the look may be worth it. I like MF just for the look.

DIGITAL medium format is expensive. Film MF is dirt cheap.

You can get a perfectly workable MF TLR film camera for like $50.

And film for it only costs maybe 1.5-2x or so what 35mm costs, and about the same to develop. My local mom and pop lab charges a whopping $1 more for MF than 35mm developing, and the same price for scans.
