Gentle Sunset

This one has been sitting in my "Edit Pic" folder for a while. It always attracts my attention but just isn't spectular enough for a sunset picture. I like the "peaceful, easy feeling" it gives me though.

It is the Colorado high country near Steamboat Springs. It's kind of deceptive in that the trees at the left which are a few hundred yards away and appear to be on the slope of that "hill" really aren't but on a closer, hidden ridge. That "hill" is a mountain and is about 4 miles away.

I think this is a great sunset shot, and I hate sunset shots. I love the texture that fills the image from edge to edge. I really like how there is still a lot of detail in the dark below the horizon. The remaining dark greens go well with the glowing warmth of the clouds, and the white trees snaking upwards from the bottom are nice.
