Getting Started

Hello everyone I'm new to the boards here. I just got into photography big time in the last year. I'm a military photographer so thats where all my training has come from is their very intensive school. Anyway I'm looking to do some freelance and contract work to make some extra money. Can anyone give me some advice/tips on how I could get started with that?

Also I would like to make an online photo portfolio for people to look at can anyone suggest a good one? I don't have any money to spend on it at the moment so it would have to be a free one untill I get some jobs to pay for one or I come into some extra money.

Welcome to the forum.

"freelance and contract work" isn't very specific. Do you have an idea of what type of photography you would like to do? Weddings? Portraits? Fashion? Sports?

I'm looking at doing Special Events like Family reunions, weddings, birthday parties, etc. I also would not mind getting into Senior Pictures and family portraits.

I am also into photo journalism.
