GF portraits during the hike today

Was out hiking with the GF today and figured I'd take a few with the 35mm prime I had with me.

As always, critique is most welcome, as I'm a newbie.

This first one, something is wrong but I can't put my finger on it. It Perhaps the background is too busy.

With this one, I like the setting but can't put my finger on what's missing either. Definitely the focus is not where I'd like - the eyes are off. What else?

Your focus is definitely off on both of these, you should try using manual focus just for a try. And in #1 she is in the shadow.
