Is this a straight forward download and install like any other software? I read on the GIMP site about source codes, installers and what-not and I have no clue what all that's about.

Just wondering if it's pretty much load up and play before I go through the trouble.

yes go for it .

easy upload takes just minutes and your there.

try picassa too, thats a nice simple programme.

gimp is like baby photoshop, excellent once you get your head around it.

You need something called the GTK runtime for GIMP to work. It's really easy to install and doesn't clog up your hard-drive or start menu.

Basically, it's well worth it. I use it all the time, and although I'm a complete idiot when it comes to post-processing, I love using it.

I downloaded and installed it without problem or needing anything else. Just need to go back and get the help files. GIMP works well for a beginner like myself. I think I may use it for a while before purchasing software.
