Hi All,

My wife Kathy, our friend DB, and I will be traveling to San Diego, California the first of March for some r & r. I will be taking my camera equipment with me. Being from Kentucky and having visited this area only once, I am wondering what the forum members that are familiar with San Diego and the surrounding countryside suggest as good photo ops.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

The zoo, Balboa park, the beaches,... ...

The Zoo, Sea World...
All the Gangstas driving around while leaning way way back in their seats.

Waterfront, go south to Mexico and shoot some border stuff, all the places the above posts mention. it's a great place.

There's also some pretty nice scenery, but that might be a bit out of the city.

I've also seen some of these (forgot the name), but they are about an hour away, probably less.

If you take a ride on the trolley, it will give you a good bird's eye view and then you can decide what you would like to go back to see. One of the short harbor cruises are also nice.

The above mentioned are all points of interest. Sea World has a lot of photo ops, also. Old Pueblo/Old Town is pretty neat.

Here are 2 more suggestions. The USS Midway is a retired aircraft carrier that is docked right next to downtown San Diego. They give tours all day and you can wander on the ship and look at exhibits for hours. It is huge.

The other suggestion is the Mormon Temple. The architecture is spectacular. I don't know what type of access is available on the site, but you can see the structure from the freeway. Take a look at the website to see what I mean about the architecture.

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks JD...

I've already taken the USS Midway tour and really enjoyed it. One of my pics is below:
