This was one healthy girl, around five inches in length. I had to stand on a bench to get to a point where the backlighting was less intrusive. In retrospect, a slightly smaller aperture would have helped this shot. Oh well, maybe next time...

That's an impressive looking beastie!

I think you've done well with the technical aspects - it's not too bright and the focus looks good to me. The depth-of-field is good as well, with the good bits sharp. Perhaps a little niggley, but to my mind it's a bit central to the picture - more like a shot from a scientific journal or magazine than an "art" photo.

Good effort though - you certainly captured it's likeness very well.

You are correct, it does seem a bit clinical. I'll see if I can do something about that.
 
wow this is brilliant, it sure looks like you have everything right, five inches? i am so glad we don't have any of those around here!
