I am not a macro shooter. And I do not have any dedicated macro lens. But I do have a extension tube that allow me to have a closer focus.


If you are getting into macro photography, I believe you may want to take a look at those true Macro Lenses that give you 1:1 life size close up. Other lenses that has a macro feature may not have the 1:1 ratio.

Usually, the true macro lenses are prime lens. i.e.

Nikon 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR
Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO Macro
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 SP AF <- not sure if this lens will autofocus with your camera.
