Good rig to carry daily?

Hey everybody, I'm new here and I hope this is in an appropriate area.

Anyway, I'm a college student, and I carry my laptop in my backpack with me almost all the time. I really want to find a good set up to pack my camera basics without having to buy a new back pack.. I bike to school so something inside my bag would be great. Any ideas? I could buy a new bag made for camera stuff and a laptop, but I'm not planning on it.

Nikon D3100 (probably will keep my 35mm f1.8 AF-S on it for this purpose). I MIGHT carry a speed light, but I really like not using flash.

Well depending on size of bag and type can buy camera inserts pouch which fits in like messenger bags and some backpack types.

Just search Amazon,B&H or Androrama for photo inserts as there are many different types.
