i heard that too matt, i actually just got an email from them today. Sunpak makes a gorillapod knock-off called the flexpod, but i'm pretty sure the difference in price is only 10 dollars (IF that) so you might feel safer going with gorillapod... but theres always that option. I bought the flexpod and it looks exactly like the GP . I just hope its reliable.
