I was getting my stuff together to go shoot and grabbed my 28mm which was a MINT 28 1.8.. I know to some this is not an expensive lens but to me any lens is expensive. Anyway, I noticed I have a ding in the front element. It's small, real small.. the size of a sharpened pencil tip. Is there a safe way to buff this out? Or just swallow it and keep on shooting. Uhhgg

You can't 'buff it out'. That will just make it worse. If it's really that minor, fuggedabowdit. I probably won't affect your images. Worse case, it lost some $ value if you decide to sell it.

A small ding in the coating of the front element may show up as lens flare if the front of the lens is in direct light, but I seriously doubt if you will see any other evidence of it in your photographs. As 480sparky has said, it does affect the resale value.

Nothing I know of that you can do.

Cover it up with a black Sharpie to reduce reflection from the edges (if it is a chip).
