This is a fantastic, eerie image. Very Winogrand.

We can hear the silence as all wait for the moment - be it a photo to be taken of the group, or a performance to begin, etc. - it doesn't matter. The expectation is heavy in the image. Which alone would not make it work - for that, we have the flowers hastily placed in a temporary container (a trash can to add a touch of surrealism and/or irony?). Flowers to be handed out afterwards? As a gift for sitting up straight? I wouldn't have mentioned what the flowers were for...or the event - then the interpretations are endless and they are all just a little skewed.
