Does the 10D have a setting that automagically changes the ISP setting? It would be a custom function inthe menu probably.

Yes the 10D has an Auto ISO went it’s in programmable mode, it can be set to a fixed ISO or Auto in this mode. And can be changed on the fly with the top control buttons & dial. Differ program mode may not let you set a fix ISO such as Auto mode.
