Greetings all,
I came across the forums a week or so ago and decided I might as well register and introduce myself.
My name is Billy. I am, well, let's just say, older than most of you, I am sure.
I got into photography in high school. Joined the Army, under MOS 84B, I think, for those of you who speak military... for the rest, I was a Photographic Laboratory Specialist. Impressive, huh?
The Army, at least in those days, had a way of taking anything one was interested in and burning them out on it for close to forever. That is pretty much what happened to me and photography, until recently, when I decided to pursue it again. To give you an idea how long ago that was, "digital" didn't even apply to watches and "auto focus"...well...you know.
Although I sold all of my darkroom equipment (for $50 I think) before I got out of the Army, I did hold on to a Canon AT-1 and an assortment of lenses. Recently bought a F-1 to go along with it. I always wanted a F-1 but, in the early to mid 70's, who could afford it? Certainly not me. The cost of a F-1 back then would be roughly equal to spending $3 million on a camera in today's dollars, I suppose.
Anyway, the pleasure is all mine and that is enough about me. I am sure there is a lot I can learn here and I am looking forward to the experience.
