Decided to have a little test shoot out today. Nothing scientific, more for fun to see how the J1, D7100 and D300 compare with the Sigma 120-300 and 150-500... Looks like the J1 could be a a lot of fun... comments welcome :)

The J1 crops hold up VERY well! Maybe yesterday's sub-par J1 stuff was more a reflection on camera technique and the slam-bang, out the car window kind of shooting?

LOL, yesterday was hanging out of the window in the house, today was the car :) I would say there is some hope. I would love to get some osprey portraits :)

You need to stop posting this stuff, the rest of us are going to get discouraged and give up LOL

what is a J1

#2 is my fav because the beak and eye are in focus

Had the v1 but gave up on it cause of that viewfinder blacks out. And other little things

Has great reach when not cropping and decent quality. Still think the d7100 with its 1.3x mode for around 2.0x crop and 16 mp is better quality than the 2.7 crop at 10mp. But it is cool to have a full frame image you don't have to crop to get amazing up close shots.

Love the gull shot, i like #1, the OOF beak doesn't bother me, i love that angle and composition

Looks good to me,Nice shots. I thought about getting the J1 but went for the samsung NX300 20.3 pix instead with a 20-50mm. I just ordered it today and can't wait to take delivery and try it out.
