I recently bought a nikon FE and a F3 to shoot B&W and i was wondering if i could use my vivitar285hv on it.

the small detail i am not sure about is, since i changed the original plaastic hotshoe mount for a all metal one. is the voltage gonna be allright to use on those old camera. I know this is why the HV is kinda popular because it only has 6V and its safe for new cameras.

If it's safe for the newer cameras, it should be safe for the older ones, too. They lowered the output voltage explicitly for the newer cameras.

Replacing the foot doesn't change the voltage.

The F3 doesn't have a normal hot shoe. You would have to get an adapter to mount it. I bought a SB-16A for my F3.
