This was my first try ever at HDR.

3 bracketed exposures into an HDR.
I like the more dramatic looks, so that's what I was trying to go for

just looks overcooked to me..

I feel the love :er:

Did you join to get a pat on the back?

**or**

Did you join to improve?

Your sky is...in a word...terrible. Grainy and the clouds in the far back are still blown out.

Try again.

I'd pull some of the grain out of the sky, but the horizon line where the white clouds emulate the trees is very nice.

I joined to improve, but there is a difference between "it looks overcooked" or the way you bring it. Even though you think it is terrible, at least you tell me why you think it is terrible and give me a pointer towards the biggest problem (blown out clouds, big no no in HDR). Now that is something I can work with.

Just got a 17-85 lens, so I will for sure go back to this place to shoot some wideangle shots and see what I can do with them in HDR

What did you shoot the above with?

At 17mm, you might have to decide between more sky and more foreground or a little more of both, but as I previously wrote, I really think the best area of this photo is where the trees meet the sky.

Either way nice shot, thanks for posting.

The above one was shot with a sony DSC-H2 superzoom cam.

Now I have the DSLR we will try again.,....and again....and again..... :lmao:

I think you've got a nice shot, and I like the assertive sky. The dark hillside coming in from the left gives the whole composition some needed depth. To my eyes, there just too much contrast. I think that is what's making it look "overcooked".
