Hello from a new member, novice photographer! Picture I took over the weekend.

Hello, new to the forum. My dear wife told me this year I could get a nice camera for my birthday/Anniversary gift. I've always enjoyed viewing nature shots, so I thought I'd take some myself.

Here is one I took on Saturday at a pond near my home. I was using the telephoto lens, and caught this little bugger as he was resting on a branch.

Thoughts?

Here is a picture of a frog from a decorative pond I have in my backyard. I need to work on my lighting. I was using a flashlight to illuminate him so the camera could focus. It was pitch black outside.

I should have asked for any suggestions?

I think number 1 could be cropped to its advantage.

Number 2 of the frog is just plain too dark.
