Hi all,
I am so glad I found this forum. I am currently in process of shopping for my first DSLR. I am about 99% sure it will be a Nikon D3100 with a 2 lens kit that one of the big box stores is selling. I am buying one primarily to shoot macro and wildlife but will be also shooting the family and other typical stuff.
When it comes to the "Lingo" I was completely ignorant of any of it until I found this forum. If anyone can tell me a reason not to buy the 3100 by all means let me know. I am looking forward to learning a lot here and I am also going to take the NYIP intro to Digital Photography correspondence course eventually.

The Nikon D3100 is a good camera for someone just starting out.
