Hey everyone, my name is Andrew from New Jersey. I picked up a Nikon D3000 recently and really enjoy it. I picked up a Nikon 35MM F/1.8 and i love it!

I'm debating on what lens to purchase next, a zoom lens, a wider angle lens. I've been looking at the tamron 17-50mm, any opinions on that?

Here's some of my shots, nothing spectacular but let me know what you think.

Welcome! It's lovely to meet you. I'm brand loyal, so I only use Canon. I know that sounds really closed-minded :D
I really dig the star filter effect in the last photo. Great contrast and colors.
The 2nd b&w image needs more light; It feels a little too dark. Photoshop would do the trick.
Why do you want to purchase a new lens?
I recommend having a range of wide angle, zoom, and macro.
If you're really into photography I would collect them all.
I regret to this day not having a sufficient zoom lens to capture birds.

Thanks alot!
I guess I'm looking to start building my lens collection, if I've read correctly the tamron offers up to 78 degrees (please correct if I'm wrong) Looking for a lens for more landscape photography and to use for shooting my trucks and things.

That's excellent you're looking to build your lens collection. So am I.
Here is a review link to the Tamron 17-50mm that could be useful to you: Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD IF Lens Review
Also, I searched a bit more and found that for landscape photography, the Nikon D3000 works great with the Nikon 18-55mm VR lens. I imagine it is a good wide angle and portrait lens. http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/nikon_18-55_3p5-5p6_vr_n15/
However, I do not have much experience with Nikon.

Hope those links can help you in your decision.
