Ok, so I just bought the Nikon S8100. I’m not big on photography, but I’ve read changing the aperture settings to a smaller number can give pictures the “blurred” effect in the background so only the main object is in focus. Well, I don’t know how to change the aperture settings on this thing! Is it possible? If so, please help! Thanks so much!

I just gave a quick overview to the manual for your camera, and I don't believe aperture or shutter speed are user adjustable.

Your best bet may to be to shoot in portrait mode, but most point and shoots don't do shallow depth of field well, anyway, due to the tiny sensor and the tiny lens.

That's what I figured! Thank you very much for your help. :) You saved me alot of time! lol :)
