Help! Olympus trip 35

Help! I just got a Olympus trip 35 and..
I need your great help

The red flag ALWAYS pops up no matter what I do, no matter how dark or bright it is in the room.

What should I do? Can anyone help?

The camera's meter is probably kaput. Some work, some don't.

And, it's not economically practical to have them repaired (would cost more than finding a working one).
