I'm currently using a 70-200mm canon zoom lens (the f4 one). Unlike the the f2.8 model, it doesnt have the the mount for the tripod on the lens. It's heavy enough to where I think it's affecting the stillness of my long exposures using a tripod.

So my question is, are there kits to attach the camera to the tripod by the lens? I really appreciate the help.

Buy a lens ring. Canon makes one. They just do not supply it with that lens.

I used my f4L with a 20D on a tripod - no problems at all. The f4L isn't heavy really.

Buy a decent tripod instead

Well I already have the tripod unfortunately and I have a very limited budget, and the ring is rediculous, so I'm gonna just have to forget it for now. :(

What kind of tripod though?

Hehehe...

Thom's Maxim #1: You're wasting money on expensive AF-S and other Nikkor optics if you fail to give your camera and lens a stable platform.

Not many people realized this... and the introduction of IS has made peopel ignore this even more. Sad really.
