Help with new Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM

All GOOD advice! I was just trying to shoot without flash because the lens boasts to be ideal for indoor low light conditions, so I wanted to test that. I was shooting on Program AE in lieu of Manual... could be why all those wrong settings popped up. I will most definitely continue to practice and play around until I see what works best. I know its an awesome lens... Now, I just need to be that "awesome user" :biglaugh:

It looks like you are on the right path just need a little more practice. I would have to agree with the others 1/50 is too slow to shoot moving objects hand-held in very low light. I normally have a pretty good time shooting with my 1.8 50mm Nikon lens with candlelight ambiance, but never tried moving objects.

In your case I suggest using the flash and bouncing it off walls/ceiling. Also a very inexpensive diffuser or bounce card can work very well in those shots in my opinion.
