Hello
I know this is a photography forum but this was the only place I could find that might be able to help me.
I am working on a project that involves scanning pictures onto my computer. A few of the pictures are very glossy and these pictures get lines through them when scanned. I was just wondering if there were any tricks that anyone might now of to reduce or remove the lines when scanned.
Thanks!

Rotate your photos 90°, do you still get the lines? If so, are they going the same way?

Glossy should not make that much difference. Putting a weight on the scanner cover helps keep the photo pressed evenly on the scanning surface.

What resolution and software are you using?

At best, consumer scanners give you about 90% of the photo quality. Sounds like a lot but that 10% makes a big difference.
