Hey there,

Lemme introduce myself! :mrgreen:

I'm Sarah from Mckinney, TEXAS! I've been shooting for about two years now. I started out with my dads old 35mm CANON I found in his closet and ever since I fell in love with photography. I then received a Canon Power Shot S5 for my 16th birthday last year. I love it! Even though it's a very basic camera, it's perfect for a beginner. I'm now turning 17 in 5 days and hoping to get a new camera...maybe a Canon rebel?! heh we'll see. But yeah thats me. I'm really new to this forum stuff, but hopfully i'll get some helpfull tips from here and see some awesome photos. Thanks for reading!

HI Sarah,

Welcome to the forums I'm in Fort Worth.

The biggest tip I could say for you is to learn to use your camera in the manual modes (even most P&S cameras have manual modes). Then, when you get your DSLR you will hit the ground running. You will have some limitations, but you can get the gist of how it all works.

A great book is "Understanding Exposure".
