Hey everyone
I'm new to photography i dont even own my own camera . But right now im looking at a Nikon D40 (maybe a D40x if i can find a used one) or a Canon Xt or XTI, I was wondering if anybody had any input on these cameras that would be great. And also it would be nice to know what to look for in a camera, and taking pictures in general thanks

in my experience i can tell you about the rebel since is the one i got.
It's a great camera to start i'm sure the nikon should be a nice cam to.

Whether you look at a specific brand remember you're buying not just the cam but the hole "brand" you do have some third party lenses and flashes and accessories but , most people like to go with the same brand, so look around your town see what brand has the best support and then price to make your decision.

Welcome to TPF.
Read all the reviews you can but at the end of the day, It's what 'feels right' in your hand. Nikon or Canon are great cameras but don't forget, there are other brands too!
