Hi all i posted in the wrong area i posted my hi's in the beginers area

I am a commercial fisherman and all my very limited photography experience which is close to nil has been gained from snapping while at sea , i now want to build on my hobby , but i am blown away by the terms and equipment , does anyone have a good starter point for me plzzzzzzzzz

I have many photos that to me are nice and make me remember the day well , but are not upto your standards here, any advice on how to improve would be greatfully recieved
