Hi from South Korea! (Originally from New Jersey)

Hey all,

I'm in the Air Force, got orders to South Korea and Germany. Decided my Canon P&S wasn't going to suffice in either country so I went out and bought a Rebel T3i. I really don't know where to start with photography other than a few things I barely remember from my highschool class. I, like many, want to learn and use what I get from this site so any advice would be nice.

Is there any good exercises anyone could recommend? Specifically to get 'know' my camera and to get a more creative eye? I went out yesterday to use my camera for the first time, and while I saw things that I could shoot, there wasn't much that I felt I wanted to shoot. Is that bad?
