Hello, I'm new to the forum, but not new to Nikons
I started using them when I worked at Kodak in their K-Pro department testing their high end digital line. The 620 and 660 used the Nikon F5 body. This was way back when thier 6 mega pixel camera ran over $20,000 and yes, that is the right number of zero's.
When I started shooting weddings and proms I picked up a N90s which served me well for the past 6 years. I used my 28-200 (I think that's it) Nikkor lens for those 6 years.
Last September I took the plunge to digital and got a D50 and "upgraded" my lens to a Tamron 28-300. I'm reasonably happy with the lens though it is slow compared to the Nikon (something) - 300. I sacrificed the focus speed for the convienince of one lens. (My mistake)
Anyway... my camera took a header this weekend and the Tamron lens is not focusing when at full zoom (bye bye to the 800 pictures I took at a dog trial). I'm going to use the insurance money for a 2.8 lens instead of replacing the Tamron.
I joined to get some help selecting my new lens.
Thanks,
Michelle
