I'm VERY new.
I'm just a Mom trying to take better pictures and learn what I can.
I have a basic Nikon with a couple of lenses but really trying to figure this whole thing out.

Welcome! That's mostly what I'm doing too. I became interested in photography because I thought my baby was so beautiful, but my cell phone pics of her didn't look like her! I couldn't understand what was wrong until we had a pro take pictures. The photographer was able to really capture her beauty. So I decided that I either had to learn how to do the same or hire a full-time photographer. Learning turned out to be cheaper (though not by much....)

Don't be afraid to ask questions! There are always a few trolls, but most of the pros here remember being a beginner and are happy to help.
