How can I do this better?

My mom got out her guitar a couple days ago and I tried to take some pictures, but I didn't really get any I liked. This is my best. Any ideas to make it better? (Besides shooting during the day, which gives me a little more light to work with. )

Maybe experiment with sepia or B&W.

Try different crops, as adversus suggested.

Yes! I hate that thing. I think it's a pain to get off. It's been on there since she got it in the sixties/seventies.

Believe it or not, I like the strap. It gives your mom's guitar character. The way you shot it here the strap doesn't help the composition though. If you are trying to capture some of your mom in the shot....the strap is her. =)
Keep shooting.

It's not that bad but, should've included the guitar edge as well. Feels incomplete to me.
