how do you get effect like the second photo in this thread......i know the original poster already post hte method....but i'm posting this thread to see if there are other alternative method to acheive the same effect......i believe learning is endless

The blur/overlay is typically how I've seen it done. You can experiment with different amounts of blur, opacity, and overlay modes to get the right mood.
