how large can I print

remember to consider how the print will be used also.

300dpi is the quality you need for things that will be viewed very closely, like books and magazines. if the print is always going to be viewed from further away, you can get away with much less.

so the 20D is
3504 x 2336 pixels
so @ 300PPI
3504 / 300
2336 / 300
= 11.68" x 7.78"

That's the size of the 20d "negative" if you will. You haven't done any enlarging at that point. It's possible to enlarge way beyond that. 24x36" is easily obtainable.

Thats for a high quality print - for mags, books, portfolio where close scrutiny will be used - otherwise you may get away with a resolution of 150PPI

so
3504 x 2336 pixels
so @ 150PPI
3504 / 150
2336 / 150
= 23.36" x 15.57"

but will need to be viewed from a distance

then you could interpolate to a higher size using photoshop but I have found limited results here although there are lots of techniques to do this - otherwise I have found genuine fractuals a good program for this
