This is a parent gull feeding its almost grown chick, isn't it? So you did not need to be THAT quick to catch this scene. I'm glad you don't let us see WHAT exactly the chick is retrieving from its mother's or father's throat!!!
But to get this close to the sea gulls...! 300mm?

To LaFoto. I think it is a Mom and son/daughter( I can not tell the difference) I used a 70-300mm, and was sitting on the boardwalk about 10 feet away. They did not pay any attention to me, which made it easier to take the photo.
