Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
My Samsung mobile phone has 'Pro' photo settings allowing me to shoot in higher quality DNG (Raw) format, as well as jpg. But how do I get these DNG images transferred to my laptop for editing? I have tried a couple of options, but they always export as jpg. As a result, I have dozens of unedited DNG just sitting on the mobile. Any advice would be appreciated

Connect your phone to the computer with a USB cable and copy/paste from one folder to another. The computer will “see” the phone as a USB hard drive.

You should be able to send the raw files to a sharing platform like Google Drive. There might be settings to select the raw files for transfer. Settings like that can be hard to find. It is how software is these days - easy once you know how, hard and frustrating otherwise. Spend some time to try to find how to do it. On my phone there are JPG and RAW icons under the photo that are easy to miss if you are in a hurry.

As Rick mentioned, you can connect your phone to a computer to gain access to its files and then transfer what you want. But again, there are gotchas. Not all USB cables will work for that - some are only for charging and won't do data. So someone says, Just use a USB cable, easy - and you try that, and it doesn't work. 😡 With the right cable, a message should appear on your phone to optionally let you access the files. That note can be hard to find. Check to see how that works on your phone.

Finally, you can look into connecting a USB thumb drive to the USB port of the phone. That should work but so far I haven't tried it.

You don't export them. That's the noob way of doing it. You select them and copy, then in a separate folder you have open you paste them in. Control+a, control+c, control+v.

Also when you connect your phone to your computer/laptop with a usb to mini/micro usb cord you have to unlock your phone. Otherwise your laptop won't see your phone. In windows 11 look at "This Pc" where ssd shows up, under that should be your phone, if you named it your first name it should say first name and phone.
