How to teach a Noob.

Hello all,

I am a long time photo-enthusiast and about to be a first time DSLR owner! I am curious how most beginners learn the art of photography. Not so much how to navigate the equipment, but moreso how to understand and learn the basics of photography as a hobby. Is there a particular book that you would recommend or an online program etc.?

Welcome to the forum!

First, take a look through older posts using the search function. You'll find tons of threads asking for books recommendations for beginners. Besides the reading, the most important thing is to go out and shoot as much as possible, be objective when criticizing your work, upload some shots here for review and critique, take a look to other people's photos and the critique they get... etc etc
