how to view pics on dig. cam. after editing on pc?

hello. i hope this is the correct place to post this.
I know my camera inside and out (olympus stylus), but theres one issue i cant figure out:

the camera gets plugged in via USB. I work (Photoshop) directly from the folder of the camera to edit the photos, then Save (in the original jpg format). The files are indeed saved on the camera's memory, but they wont show up in Quickview. I get a blue error screen. Is there any way around this?

dont edit pics straight from the card.

download them or put them on disc.

i did this and lost most of my pics its something to do wit ps messing up the card info

i know i know... of course i dl to my pc (normally, though lately ive been using my camera's memory as a portable memory stick, occasionally saving notepad/word documents as well. )

i was just curious as to what saving a picture 'does' to the file that prevents it from being read and displayed in the viewscreen just like any other picture.
i geuss its not a big deal, thanks anyway.
