Ice Bird

Caught this little fella this morning from my front porch with a 300mm lens...
We had a bit of an ice storm last night, and got this one right around sunrise...

dang that's cool. Ice storms are pretty sweet until they start ripping down power lines and trees.

Whoa, all coated in ice there is! Thankfully not your little Mr Sparrow!
I have only ever seen something like this happen once in my life! Everything coated in ice, that is. Just once in all my - longer than most of yours on here - life!

yeah, using the ice scrapper on the windshield of my truck was pretty much pointless...
After about 5 minutes of futile scrapping and chipping, I went into the house and filled a gallon jug with hot water and poured it on the windows and door handles.
The whole vehicle was encased in ice...about a quarter of an inch worth...
